College-entrance essay contest

Take your chance to earn a free writing coaching session by submitting your college-entrance essay draft for this contest.

We'll pick FIVE winners and help them fine-tune their essays before they send them off to schools. TWO will win for being the first two to submit their essays. (Writing your essay isn't a race... but this part of the contest is.) The other THREE winners will be chosen by which essays we think have the most potential.

How to enter:

  1. Choose a prompt.

If you are applying to a school that does not use the Common App, you can use a different college-entrance essay prompt or a scholarship essay prompt.

  2. Write your college-entrance essay.

Submissions should be 250-650 words sent in a Word or Google docs file.

  3. Email your draft to jennifer@goodcommaclassroom.com.

Your email should include your name, the college(s) you're applying for, and the prompt you chose.

The contest ends September 16 at 11:59p.m. We'll notify the first two winners the day they submit their essays. Then on September 21st, we'll notify the last three winners so they can schedule their free coaching session.

Each week until the contest ends, we'll be posting writing tips on social media, so keep up with us on Facebook or Instagram for those. You can also check out our free college-entrance essay videos.
